Danga, HR Consultant, Tanzania "It is not possible to put just one theory into practise without borrowing few elements from another. I am of the view that all the theories are interchangeable."

Theory X Theory y Theory Z OSHUN, GRACE OKAIMA , Nigeria "I am not in total agreement with Danga in his view that it is impossible to put just one theory into practice without borrowing few elements from another. His statement will depend on the situation at hand. In some cases, one theory will do, while in others one may have to borrow from other theory/theories." |

Do we Have Examples? Danga, Tanzania "Oshun's comment leaves me in a dilemma whether to agree or not. If I may get examples on how a single theory could stand on its own, please." |

Theory X, Theory Y, Theory Z OSHUN, GRACE OKAIMA , Nigeria "Theory Z is one in which management takes a holistic view of the situation, including collective decision making, individual responsibility, concern for employees as well as their families. In a war situation, when the commandant has to bark orders, this theory will have to be set aside because it will be inappropriate. The autocratic leadership style will definitely be the one to be adopted because of the situation at hand. Whereas in the normal office setting, leadership can be flexible adopting whatever style is considered appropriate or combing a number of styles." |

Re: All (most) Theories are Interchangeable - with the Right Tool Daniel Latch, United States "Yes, interchangeable with a fitting adaptive structure. Flipping from one to another on whim is not the solution. Single theories stand on their own well when applied in the proper context. Context changes parameters on which theories are based. Core issues must be understood.
A native American saying is that when two things standing alone make sense, they should make sense standing together. A continuum exists between the various theories and too few people know about it, how to describe it or how to use it. That is my professional area.
Contact me if you are interested in learning more about system that does not rely on a single theory but is rather a meta program incorporating over 2000 years of philosophy and 150 years of psychological research and theory.
You will find it immediately useful. Completely adaptable to any current theory or practice. Broadly applicable across corporate settings from indoctrination to board meetings and employee evaluation to sales group performance planning and execution." |
