"From what can be seen in the summary, in my opinion we can make a clear distinction between administration and management.
The way I see it, Theory X indicates characteristics of administration and Theory Y indicates characteristics of management."

"I just read the new edition Art Kleiner's "The Age of Heretics" which provides a very readable history of many of those who led management philosophy development in the 20th century, including Douglas McGregor. My take is that Theory Y assumes people are basically good and should be empowered while Theory X assumes people are not so good and need to be controlled."
